Adventures of Anwin - contd...

My sad saga with travelling around continues. The latest goes like this...

I am supposed to be in Trivandrum during this weekend for a quiet family reunion or something akin to that. So since I didn't have a vehicle to book a ticket with the nearest travel agent I wanted to call up and book a ticket. So I called up this friend (I am thinking of the iron maiden or some other equally horrifying torture to treat this friend now), and asked for this travel's phone number. Surprise!!! He says he will book the tickets himself and deliver it to me. I thought "wow, that's a friend". I still managed to say that I just need the phone number and I will manage it. My magnanimous friend didn't want me to go through the hassles. In the end I had to give in. However, I did remind him that I needed the tickets by Thursday. And that's pushing it a bit too far since I will not be able to meet my friend after that. And I insisted again so that it will imprint on his brain.

Tuesday turned to Wednesday. I called him up to check the progress. Friend says tonight. Tonight turned to Thursday. I again called up to find out if everything was alright. Wonder of wonders or should I say as it always turns out for me, no tickets yet. And I was supposed to get it on friday 11 '0 Clock (that is today). I just flipped and asked him to cancel the ticket. I knew I will not be able to meet him even if he gets the tickets and moreover I will be at office where he will not be able to deliver the tickets. So bye bye my friend, the Great Anwin Emperor of the night skies, can take care of it.

Today morning I woke up a little sooner (it turned out that my sooner was everyone else's later) and made a hundred or so phone calls all over Bangalore. Great news people!!! No tickets anywhere for Trivandrum today. Wow awesome. Made some more calls to my other friends including a mallu friend who has more contacts. He just called up an hour ago to say, "dude, sorry man. No tickets anywhere for today. But if there is a single cancellation I will get a call and I will reserve the tickets for you". He means well I know, but I have resigned to my fate. I just sit calm at work. I have to book tickets for tomorrow now.

To top it all, when I came to office I discovered that I hadn't brought my access card. So can't get inside. I already have a couple of temporary access cards to be returned. So sad...

The devil has kissed me...
